Duma began when our first shop outgrew itself

Hello, I am James and I own both Duma and Flory&Black in the seaside town Whitstable. I originally only had Flory&Black, and inside my homeware shop I had some funky lights to draw in attention. People started to ask for lighting advice, and having been a professional photographer, I somewhat knew about this topic! I learnt a lot along the way and eventually opened Duma, a dedicated lighting shop.

Now you may be thinking “What does Duma mean?'“, and no, it’s not the chambers of the Russian parliament, the Federal Assembly. My first two children are called Duke and Margo, I simply took the first two letters of their names and combined them to get Duma. I should probably do something for my other son, Rex…

I have helped many homes, shops, restaurants, and hotels in and around Whitstable with their lighting needs; helping create anything from decorative lighting, ambient to practical lighting.
